Kelly Clarkson has cancelled her UK tour, which had been due to kick off in Glasgow on 12 November. The singer says she’s been forced to take “vocal rest” for the rest of the year on her doctor’s orders. Clarkson, who pulled her remaining US tour dates earlier this month, has also cancelled 10 concerts in Canada and Ireland.
“I am truly sorry that I have to cancel the remainder of my tour dates,” she said in a statement on her website. “I was so looking forward to sharing this tour with all my amazing fans in Canada and the UK. “Unfortunately my doctor is telling me I have to stay on vocal rest, but I am working hard to get better as fast as possible.”
The singer first experienced problems with her voice after the birth of her first child, River Rose, last year. She’s currently pregnant with her second child. The former American Idol winner told Entertainment Tonight Canada that she thought she’d lost her voice for good.
“I literally had a moment where I cried and drank wine all day,” she said. “I was like, ‘Oh, God, I’m not going to be a singer any more.’ “I was bawling to my husband and like, completely hammered, just going, ‘Oh my God, it’s over, I don’t know what I’m going to do. I guess I could do more charity work.’ “I didn’t know what I was going to do.”
The singer released her seventh studio album Piece By Piece earlier this year. Lead track Heartbeat Song made it to number seven in the Official Singles Chart and her record topped America’s Billboard 200.
Kelly Clarkson’s cancelled tour dates in the UK and Ireland are:

- Glasgow, The SSE Hydro – 12
- Birmingham, Genting Arena – 14
- Leeds, First Direct Arena – 16
- Manchester, Manchester Arena – 18
