Justin Bieber mobile phone accusation dropped in LA

Written by on 14th June 2014

Justin Bieber won’t face any charges over a row about a mobile phone, officials in LA have confirmed.

The singer had been accused of fighting over a mobile phone with woman who claimed she had a row with him.

The woman said Bieber pulled her phone out of her bag to see if she was filming him, while he was hitting balls in a batting cage at a family entertainment centre.

She said she showed him her phone to prove that she wasn’t taping him.

Although the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office has declined to file a felony charge, the case has been referred to the Los Angeles city attorney’s office for consideration of a possible misdemeanour prosecution.

In the US, misdemeanours are generally viewed as less serious crimes which carry less severe punishments than felonies.

The district attorney’s report stated that the woman also said her daughter was crying but when police interviewed the girl, she said she was crying out of excitement at seeing Bieber.

Last week the singer apologised after videos emerged online of him making racist jokes and about joining the white supremacist group, the Ku Klux Klan.

“At the end of the day I just need to step up and own what I did. Once again, I am sorry for all those I have let down and offended,” he said.

Celebrities including Usher, Wiz Khalifa and Russell Brand have publically supported the 20-year-old.
